Battle Lake is a bustling little community wrapped snugly around the western edge of West Battle Lake in central Minnesota’s “lakes country”. The City has a population of 875 however with a high popularity for its arts community, restaurants and nearby lakes, it appears to be much larger.

Glendalough State Park – located just 3 miles Northeast of Battle Lake at 25287 Whitetail Lane, this beautiful wilderness area was designated as a State Park in 1991. Glendalough Trail – This trail runs from the City of Battle Lake to and throughout Glendalough State Park. The Trail, in the heart of lakes country, was completed in 2013/2014. Its gentle slopes and easy access allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the beauty of the Battle Lake area.
Prospect House and Civil War Museum – located at 403 Lake Avenue North (Highway 78) this non-profit organization was formed to share the story of “Cap” Colehour, Civil War Veteran and entrepreneur, who settled in the West Central Minnesota community of Battle Lake after the Civil War. The purpose of sharing “Cap’s” house, observations, memorabilia and life is to open a door to history through which those who pass, achieve greater understanding and appreciation for an earlier and important time in the making of our nation.

Phelps Mill Park – this picturesque site located on the Ottertail River Northwest of Battle Lake (State Hwy 78 to Co Hwy 1 to Co Hwy 45) is the home of an 1890’s flour mill. The Park is also the site of an impressive arts and crafts festival held in the 2nd weekend in July of each year.
Inspiration Peak – located Southeast of Battle Lake (follow the signs off State Hwy 78) this is the highest point in Otter Tail County and provides an impressive view of nine different lakes and parts of three counties. The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center – offers a variety of environmental education programs to learners of all ages, as well as interpretive programs and walks throughout the year. Special events provide opportunities to celebrate the cultural and natural history of the prairie, discover the secrets of successful water fowling or investigate the wonders of wetlands.
